After some much-deserved time off to devote to expanding and raising her family, Francesca Battistelli has just released her first single, after a 4+ year hiatus! With the aid of some heavyweight help, Francesca is coming out with her first single, titled, "The Breakup Song". It's likely this will be the first single from an upcoming album. Stay tuned for that.
The day has finally come… "The Breakup Song" is here!!! Ahhh! I wrote this song with my friends Bart Millard from MercyMe and David Garcia, and I’ve been so excited to finally get the chance to share it with you.
The name of the new single is "The BreakUp Song", which makes one think this is a song riddled with bubble gum, made just for the heart-sick teenagers out there. But Francesca will tell you, there's much more to the song than this.
Honestly, at first we were just joking about calling it “The Breakup Song,” but the more this song got into my soul, the more I knew it had to be the title. I don’t even want a casual relationship with fear — I want it gone for GOOD. I’m sure you’ve had moments when you’ve let fear hold you back from something you feel God’s called you to, just like me. Well, next time it starts to creep up in your heart, I pray the words of this song come to mind, and you tell fear to get lost! I can’t wait to hear what you all think of this song

With a very light tour schedule on the books this summer, it's likely that Francesca is going to be spending the upcoming weeks in the recording studio finishing up the rest of the album.
Except for a couple of minor collaborations, this is the first album work that Battistelli has done in over four years. According to her Wikipedia, her last album, If We're Honest, was released over four years ago, on April 22, 2014. Beyond that, Battistelli released a song, "Future", exclusive to Pizza Ranch on June 1, 2015. Then, in late 2016, Battistelli toured with Bethel Music and was featured on two songs on the worship team's 2017 release Starlight. Finally, in late 2017, she released Greatest Hits: The First Ten Years.
